Zeta Animax is an anime-themed convention I designed to immerse attendees in the vibrant world of Japanese culture and entertainment. The branding captures the energy, passion, and playful spirit of anime fandom, combining bold visuals and dynamic elements to evoke excitement and community. An event that celebrates the creativity and connection through the love of anime.
Inspiration
The event’s design is inspired by my childhood love for anime. Growing up, I spent countless hours watching shows like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, Bakugan, and Naruto, often sketching the characters I saw on screen. These series sparked my creativity and motivated me to develop original characters and stories of my own, which helped influence the overall concept and visual identity of the event.
Logo and Name
For this project, I aimed to create a name that felt both original and memorable. I researched various events and festivals, such as Anime Expo and Comic-Con, to understand how their names conveyed energy and identity. Drawing inspiration from the Greek alphabet, I chose the word Zeta and combined it with Anime and Max to form Animax, resulting in the name Zeta Animax.
For the logo design, I explored several Japanese-style fonts for inspiration and used Adobe Illustrator to create each letter by hand. The oversized "A" was designed to resemble a traditional Japanese gate, symbolizing cultural entry and experience. Rather than keeping "Zeta" and "Animax" as separate elements, I merged them into a single, cohesive brand name to create a bold, unified identity.
Zeta Animax Posters
The Zeta Animax posters were created to visually represent how the event would be experienced. The first poster was designed in Adobe Illustrator, featuring a dragon I made as the central element. It took me a while to carefully position the text to highlight key event details, including the name, date, and location of the convention.
The second poster showcases original characters I illustrated using Procreate. I also designed a detailed background depicting the city of Tokyo with Mount Fuji in the distance, adding depth and cultural context to the scene.
Deliverables
The next phase of the Zeta Animax project involved creating mockups for event materials such as tickets, gift bags, T-shirts, and a website. I used Adobe Stock images to help make and place on designs in Photoshop, to reflect the branding of Zeta Animax.
For the ticket design, I incorporated the dragon illustration from the first poster, along with the event title and fonts to maintain visual consistency. The gift bag featured the cityscape artwork I created in Procreate, adding a sense of place and atmosphere. The T-shirt designs included original illustrations of a dragon and a phoenix, both drawn in Procreate.
Additionally, I designed a website layout using Figma, focusing on a clean, engaging user experience that matched the overall theme of the event. I dedicated significant effort to ensure every design element felt cohesive and true to the spirit of Zeta Animax.
